Responsive Matrix Cells: A Focus+Context Approach for Exploring and Editing Multivariate Graphs

Matrix visualizations are a useful tool to provide general overview of graph's structure. For multivariate graphs, remaining challenge is cope with the attributes that associated nodes and edges. Addressing this challenge, we propose responsive matrix cells as focus+context approach for embedding additional interactive views into matrix. Responsive local zoomable regions interest auxiliary data exploration editing facilities graphs. They behave responsively by adapting their visual contents cell location, available display space, user task. enable users reveal details about graph, compare node edge attributes, edit values directly in without resorting external or tools. We report design considerations covering means necessary support seamless editing. have been implemented web-based prototype based on which demonstrate utility our approach. describe walk-through use case analyzing graph soccer players insights from preliminary feedback session.
